Dcc locomotives

Question

I’m new to dcc and have general question. I have seen videos of dcc locomotives where there are bells and whistles and braking sounds.

Is this coming from a sound system within the locomotive or from the dcc controllers?

    Typically the sounds come from the locomotive or the piece using sound effects. I have seen Dining cars with dining room sounds, cam fires with the crackling sounds. The possibilities are endless.
